Nissan made a decision in 2017 that the rest of the automotive industry should pay close attention to. They announced that NISMO would begin manufacturing heritage parts for the R32 Skyline GT-R — a car that had been out of production since 1994. And they weren't talking about sourcing old stock. They were talking about making new parts, using the original specifications, for a car pushing 25 years old at the time.
That programme has since expanded to cover the R33 (BCNR33) and R34 (BNR34) GT-R as well. And it's changing what's possible for classic GT-R owners worldwide.
Why this programme exists
The GT-R has a problem that most classic cars don't: it became famous in markets where it was never officially sold. The United States, Australia, and much of Europe are full of GT-R owners who imported these cars legally but have no factory infrastructure behind them. Replacement parts for a 30-year-old Japanese domestic car are not easy to find. They're not impossible — but quality varies wildly, and genuine OEM parts become rarer every year.
NISMO's Heritage programme addresses this by manufacturing critical mechanical components to original specification. Not rebuilt used parts, not copies from third-party suppliers — new parts, made by Nissan Group, using the engineering drawings that Nissan has kept for precisely this purpose.
What parts are covered
The programme started with consumables and high-wear components: engine parts, rubber seals, body panels, suspension bushes. Over time it has expanded substantially. Engine block and head components, gearbox internals, brake hardware, and body sheet metal have all been added to the available range.
For the R32 specifically, Nissan released a full-width front nose panel reproduction — one of the most rust-prone and hardest to source panels on the car. The fact that they made this investment tells you how seriously they're taking the programme.
What this means for buyers
If you own a BNR32, BCNR33, or BNR34, the NISMO Heritage programme means you have factory-sourced options for critical mechanical repairs that simply didn't exist a decade ago. It means your GT-R can be maintained to a standard that keeps its value and its integrity.
At Grovexo, we source genuine NISMO Heritage parts directly and ship worldwide. These are not replicas. These are not aftermarket alternatives. These are new Nissan parts for the greatest performance cars Japan ever produced.
If you're restoring a GT-R or maintaining one at the highest possible standard, this is the parts programme your build deserves.
