Wheel fitment is a subject that gets a lot of attention in the JDM community for the wrong reasons. People obsess over offset, over lip depth, over stance — and then run short, worn-out wheel studs that barely engage the nut properly. It's backwards. The stud and nut connection between your wheel and your hub is one of the most safety-critical fastener joints on the car. Getting it right isn't optional.
The factory wheel studs on GT-Rs, Silvias, and Fairlady Z models from the classic era are 45-50mm of engagement length — adequate for the factory wheel specification with standard offset. When you change wheels, especially to wider, deeper-offset items with aftermarket spacers, the engagement length can be compromised. Studs that are too short for the wheel/spacer combination don't provide full thread engagement under the nut, which creates a fastener that can loosen under the vibration and load cycles of driving.
NISMO 60mm Long Studs: The Correct Solution
The NISMO Long Hub Wheel Stud Bolt Set 60mm (40222-RS045) provides 60mm of stud length — enough to accommodate standard wheels, hub-centric spacers, and many wheel/spacer combinations that leave factory studs short. The application list covers the C34, R32, R33, R34, R35, S14, S15, M35, V35, V36, V37, Z33, Z34 — essentially the complete Nissan performance catalogue of the relevant era.
Made by NISMO with the same material and thread quality standards that apply to their performance drivetrain components. The M12x1.25 thread specification is correct for these applications — match with appropriate quality wheel nuts for the complete fastener system.
This is one of those upgrades that happens during a wheel change and adds negligible cost relative to the wheel purchase but significantly improves the safety of the fitment. The NISMO 60mm Stud Set is the right hardware for any serious JDM wheel fitment.
