On a twin-turbocharged GT-R, the intercooler piping is part of the pressure system — everything from the turbo compressor outlet to the throttle body intake is under boost pressure when the car is on boost. Leaks in this system cost you power directly. Restrictions in this system cost you response and power. And the factory piping, designed for an era before serious modification was the norm for these cars, was not built for the heat cycles and pressure levels that a modified RB26 generates over years of enthusiastic use.
The NISMO Turbo Intercooler Pipe Kit for BCNR33 and BNR34 (1446A-RSR45) replaces the factory boost piping with a kit developed by NISMO for improved flow and reliability. The larger internal diameter of the NISMO pipes reduces restriction at the pressure levels that modified GT-Rs run — which on a Stage 2 or above build is significantly higher than the factory spec.
The Leak Problem
Factory intercooler pipes on 25-30 year old GT-Rs are often the source of boost leaks that are difficult to diagnose without pressurising the system. The rubber couplers degrade, the clamps loosen over thermal cycles, and small leaks develop that cost power without obvious symptoms other than slightly reduced performance and slightly higher AFRs than expected. A full intercooler piping replacement eliminates this problem category entirely and starts you with fresh, correctly sized components throughout the boost circuit.
At ¥89,712 the NISMO Intercooler Pipe Kit is a meaningful investment, but it's one that pays dividends in every stage of the build thereafter — better performance at the current tune level, no boost leak chasing, and proper specification for future turbo upgrades that the factory piping couldn't support.
