There are two types of carbon parts in the aftermarket.
Type one: carbon-look film, fibreglass with a carbon-weave surface, or ABS with carbon pattern. Looks carbon, isn't carbon, weighs similar to what it replaced.
Type two: actual dry carbon fibre. Lighter, stiffer, with real aerodynamic properties and real material integrity.
The NISMO Carbon Door Mirror Cover is type two.
Genuine race-derived design
NISMO makes these from dry carbon with a UV-cut clear coat finish. The aerodynamic design draws on NISMO's racing work β they've spent decades developing aero solutions for GT-Rs and Fairlady Zs in Super GT and Touring Car competition, and those lessons feed directly into road products like this. The mirror cover shape is specifically designed to reduce drag and turbulence at the A-pillar junction.
For the Fairlady Z Z34: part number 9637S-RNZ40, 60,500 yen. For Note E13 NISMO: 9637S-RNE30, 61,600 yen. Additional models available β check the fitment list for Elgrand E52, Leaf ZE0, March K13, and others.
One honest note about care
NISMO is upfront about this: even with UV-cut clear coat, prolonged sun and rain exposure can cause the resin in the carbon to yellow slightly or develop minor hazing over many years. This is true of virtually any clear-coated carbon component β it's a material characteristic, not a defect. Keep it clean, waxed, and out of prolonged harsh UV where possible, and it'll last for many years.
When you put a genuine dry carbon part next to an ABS or film part, the difference is immediately obvious. The texture is finer, the depth of the weave is different, and the mass reduction is real. These are not heavy components to begin with, but saving weight each side from a door-height location does have small real-world effects on balance.
For Nissan owners who want genuine NISMO quality on their cars, this is one of the more accessible entry points. A factory part, not a replica. Covered by NISMO's one-year guarantee.
